The Cosmic Dancer
Lord Nataraja's cosmic dance represents every aspect of creation in its form. Surrounded by a circular ring of fire that signifies the cyclical nature of life and death. As the Lord dances his frenetic dance, all eight directions tremble from the impact, the head of Adisesha (snake) grooves in rhythm, the Earth heaves, and gasps.
Its vibrations underlie all of creation and destruction by representing the vibrations of human thoughts, emotions, sensory perceptions, and all human action. Its thrum encapsulates the entire Samsara with all of its constituent Tattvas; in which Jivas are born, exist, and perish in endless repetition – until they can escape through the grace of the Lord.
