Training the next generation of dancers to find their voice in the vocabulary of Kuchipudi, theater & more.
Laya Dance was founded in 2019 in India by the Artistic Director, Archana Raja. In an attempt to pass on what she has imbibed from her teachers to the next generation of dancers, it is Archana’s vision to teach the essence of Indian classical dance with utmost sincerity and passion for the artform.
A seasoned performer herself, Archana Raja, comes from 20 years of experience in teaching and training students since she was 15. She holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts and has to her credit training over 100+ students in her alma mater Sridevi Nrithyalaya, Chennai. Currently she trains several students around the U.S. both in person and online in the Vempati bani of Kuchipudi.
Archana was chosen as one of the BIPOC artists from Santa Clara County in 2024 as a part of Push Dance Co.’s Base Residency for artists of color.
